What is recovery?
In physical health, recovery refers to the process of moving from illness to wellness. Our hurts, habits and hang-ups are like an illness and using the tools of Celebrate Recovery we begin to move toward wholeness, from bondage to freedom in Christ or some might say from self-reliance to faith in Christ.
Is celebrate recovery for me?
Celebrate Recovery offers the opportunity to participate in a group fellowship where hope and love combine with God’s purpose to mend our lives. If most people were honest, they would admit that there is an area of their lives with which they struggle. Are there things in your life that you do that hurt others? Is there something in your life you wish wasn’t? Is it time to stop your denial and admit you aren’t in control of your life? Do you have a habit or hang-up from which you need freedom?
If any of these things apply to you, then we encourage you to attend.
What is the difference between AA and celebrate recovery?
The primary difference between AA (and other Twelve Step programs) and Celebrate Recovery is that Celebrate Recovery focuses on Jesus Christ as the true Higher Power and uses God's Word as the authority in relation to the Twelve Steps. In order to reach people who would be offended by Jesus or the church, AA focuses on a Higher Power. Celebrate Recovery’s 8 Principles to the Road to Recovery tie the Twelve Steps to Jesus Christ’s teachings known as the Beatitudes given in The Sermon on the Mount.
Is celebrate recovery confidential?
Yes, Celebrate Recovery maintains strict confidentiality. This promotes an atmosphere of trust and enables recovery. We are diligent about confidentiality and anonymity. The guidelines and rules protect all of us from judgment and being “fixed”. In this safe place, you can take off your mask and be real and honest without fear. You are in 100% control of when and how much you share.
What does the celebrate recovery experience look like?
Large Group Worship & Lesson - 6:30 pm
Our evening begins with a time of worship, testimonies and teaching on the twelve steps and eight recovery principles.
Open Share Small Groups by Gender - 7:30 pm
At the conclusion of our Large Group time, we break up Open Share Small Groups by gender for more in-depth discussions. These groups will be sharing similar struggles and victories. Teachings from the Large Group or devotional readings will be used to initiate sharing. These groups meet in various rooms. Participants are encouraged to comment, read or just listen.
You are welcome to come and not say anything.
Newcomers’ Meeting - 7:30 pm
If you are new to recovery or a visitor, we invite you to attend a Newcomers’ meeting following the Large Group session. You will receive a brief introduction to CR, discussion of our meeting format and some personal testimonies. There is no obligation to share. Just join us and find out about CR, ask questions and determine if it is a good fit for you.
Solid Rock Cafe - 8:30 pm
Join others for a time of fellowship and complimentary coffee and snacks after the open share time. It’s an excellent way to unwind, relax and get to know others better. Many use this time to connect with a sponsor.
